Indigo Shadows

Death

History

There were not two Primordial Forces, but three. Life, Magic, and Death. While Life and Magic only had eyes for each other, Death simply waited and watched, content to have no domain of her own, yet.

Once the world was created, Death followed in her sisters' footsteps, forming into her own being. She continued to watch as creation unfolded, adding her own touches in subtle ways, introducting mortality to most of her sister's creations. Only the other deities did she leave alone; knowing that all things created would be hers, eventually. Though she is not entirely certain, she believes that even her sisters will, eventually, succumb to her power.

She is nothing, if not patient.

Yrdon

Ayana did visit Yrdon in his final days. Though he did not understand the true nature of her existence, she comforted him and gave him hope that through dying he would be able to understand her and her domain. The ever-curious student, this idea spurred on his decision to refuse Umumtu.

Plot

Ayana disapproves of the way in which Veza and Umumtu have handled the sundering of the world. While such things don't really matter to her (she can easily pass between either world, and the varied shape of the two worlds amuses her, if she's being honest), she does not like how little either other Goddess has considered their creations.

Ayana sees all creation as beings first. She believes life to be precious, and the premature ending of it to be a tragety, no matter the circumstances. That isn't to say she doesn't understand reasons for such; she her self has ended far more lives than she'd care to admit.

Still, she hates how Veza has behaved, and the wars she has started, or the famines. The world's history is littered with Veza's attempts to end humanity, and the whole concept angers Ayana.

At the same time, corrupting beings with Magic, as Umumtu is doing, is just as offensive. Corrupted beings lead to suffering, and in some ways that's worse than death. Umumtu is just as guilty in Ayana's eyes.

Season 1

Ayana will make some form of an appearance; but who she is, or her import won't be known. I may even put her in the first session, just to establish her.

Should any of the PCs die, they will get to have a one on one with her. She will inform the character that she is the Goddess of Death, and she has need of the heros, yet. So, if they are willing, she will bestow her blessing upon them, allowing them to come back from mortal wounds after a short time. In return, they must pledge themselves to her, and be willing to answer her call at a later time.

End Game

In the end, if she has the chance, she will steal the PCs from Veza, and will use them to end Umumtu and Veza's plot. She wants to see the two reunited, but not necessarily the world. She doesn't really care about that either way.
