Queen Paani

The Queen is a bitter woman, lashing out at the one person who understands her pain best of all.

Story

The Death of the King

The King of Kalisha was, indeed, lovers with Queen Runur. He had been since he had met her when she was only nineteen. They loved each other, but he had meet Princess Paani, who was quite smitten with him. Runur encouraged him to court her, so that he could have a chance to rule.

Shortly after marrying and taking the Throne, Queen Paani learned of her husband's love of the Dwarven Queen. She was heart broken, but he assured her that he loved her, too, and that his relationship with Runur was over. Paani, out of naivety, invited Runur to visit. Her idea was to discuss things, the three of them, and see if there wasn't an arrangement that could be reached.

What Paani didn't account for was Runur's love of drink, or how agressive she could be. Before Paani realized what was happening, the three of them ended up in bed together. For the next week, all three of them spent learning each other, with Paani having numerous personal revelations.

The three decided to continue whatever this was, and over the next nine years, all three of them grew comfortable together, with Runur and Paani spending significant amounts of time together.

The reason the King was in Rima was to discuss formalizing their throuple; He wanted to marry Queen Runur as well, uniting the Northern and Southern Kingdoms. Paani was fully on board, also planning to have her own wedding with Runur, to make clear to all that they were just as much lovers as Runur and the King.

And this is why what happened caused such a bitter rift; the two women loved (love?) each other, but let bitterness keep them apart all these years.

The truth about the King's Death

The King was killed by Umumtu as a way to start another war. She needed the Kingdoms to get desperate again, and hoped one of the two women would turn to Magic to attempt to save their shared love. When this didn't happen, Umumtu realized her mistake, but it was too late to stop the war. Instead she helped Queen Ratha repel the other kingdoms, and win the war.
