Kalisha is considered by many to be the most prosperous of the Five Kingdoms. It's seen as a vacation destination, and tourism is one of it's most prominent trades. The other, which any decent Guide will be quick to tell you, is "politics". Kalisha is considered by many to be the seat of political power in the Five Kingdoms. Many assume that, given the Kelir Accords, the Kingdoms are destine to unify, with Kalisha as the new capital of a unified world.
While it would be incorrect to describe Kalisha as an "island nation", over half the population lives on the chain of islands along the souther stretch of the mainland. It was the need to organize trade among these island that lead to the formation of the Kingdom. However, it would be wrong to ignore just how beautiful (and resource rich) the mainland is.
The capial city, T'lania is on the mainland, but has a seaport to rival Nytath Thalor.
Kalisha was the first Kingdom to form, as a result of trade among the people living on the islands along the southern coast. As populations grew, the need to manage supplies, and prepare for storms increased to the point where a group on the mainland had to keep supplies flowing. T'lania was formed, and the first Queen of Kalisha was crowned.
Kalisha has a long and proud history of Queens. While Kalisha is proud of it's Kings, too, the Royal line follows the mother's side, and it is the King who is expected to remarry should his Queen die.
Kalisha's government is well segmented with Governors over the islands, and different departments handling different needs. The Kalisheeran government looks the most like a modern government to contemporary eyes.
Fifty years ago, King Paani was visiting Rima, when an accident killed him. Queen Paani was distrought, and accused Queen Runur of having her husband murdered. This triggered a terrible war that lasted a full year. By the time it was over, the Kingdoms had signed the Kelir Accords, with Queen Paani receiving a good deal of the credit for helping Queen Ratha convince the others to sign.
