The Tower

The Tower is a magical location, seemingly controlled by The Master. It is the home to him, and The Assistants. It's location is unknown, even if it has one. There's a chance it's in the Magic Realm, considering the easy access to magic, and the nature of the Tower itself. On the other hand, Humans don't seem to suffer ill effects, like they would in the Magic Realm, so it's unknown if that's the source of the magic, or not.

Description

No one has ever seen the tower from the outside. Inside, it appears to be a large circular tower. Around the outer permiter are bed rooms; each room has a large, comfortable bed, a nightstand with a gas lamp on it, and a window on the far wall covered with parchement paper so only a diffused light comes through. No matter what means are attempted, the paper cannot be seperated from the window, though feeling through the paper one can feel what should be hinges and a latch for opening it. The paper cannot be damaged in any way.

Moving in from the outer edge, next is a circular hallway. From here, one can reach every other bedroom, and the inner section of the tower. There are no markings on the hallway, and every door looks the same, and is equally spaced. Somehow the Assistants can tell each and every room apart, but there is no visible difference. Any attempt to mark or otherwise designate the rooms apart disapears the moment line of sight is broken. (Sometimes, if the method was very agreegious, the person making the mark will find themselves in another location of the tower, far from where they'd just been standing.)

The inner rooms have not all been enumerated, but a Kitchen, Armory, Smithy, Clothier, and Library are often mentioned by the Assistants. Guests of the Tower are never shown these rooms.

One of the doors leads to a staircase. Going up the staircase leads to the Master's study. This is where the Master always is. The room is filled with books, parchment, scrolls, brass and metal tools, glass tubes, pereserved creatures, and other miscellany. At it's center is a large desk, covered with the same items. All of the writing and books are in an unrecognizable language, and if you stare at them, the symbols appear to shift and change as you watch.

If, instead, you head down, you are greated with a large (much larger than the size of the upper level) arena. Every time it's different; always looking as if it had been prepared for whatever use it was about to receive. The floor, though often stone, has been known to be dirt and grass, a forest floor, or even ocean. The ceiling and walls also change, as does the apparent size of the room.

This room is referred to as "the dungeon", though the name does not fit. It is an area where guests and Assitants can practide and train.

History

The Tower has been a rumor in various myths and legends, if you search very hard and kind of squint. A "magical tower with strange inhabitants" is, admittedly, a common story device. So it's hard to know how old The Tower is, or how much of a role it's played in the world's history.

The most reliable source comes from a diary that is supposed to be from one of The Heros, shortly before the events of the Fields of Kemer. In it, the hero claims to have been transported to a magical tower a year ago, and trained by a "master" and strange assistants. The residents of the tower were magical, and they were concerned with trying to contain and control the magic influence in the world.

In the diary, it details how the heros trained to defeat magical foes, and that Kivuli were the ones who were controlling the generals. It paints a very dim picture of the mythical race, claiming they were "blood thirsty monsters", and that "all they want is the end of us all".

This diary's authenticity can't be verified, but it does seem to indicate that The Tower was involved in the events from 500 years ago.
